Double Saloon Tram No: 207
Pictured is Double Saloon tram No: 207 in service in Wellington City, this model tram formed the mainstay of the fleet from their introduction during the 1920's and 30s' until 1963.

Currently this tram is in our workshop under going full restoration.

207 is one of the 71 MkII double saloon trams(fleet no's 161-231), built between 1924 and 1935.
They are similar to the 69 Mk1 trams, no's 92-160 but the destination signs are incorporated into the roofline to give a more streamlined appearance. 207 was built in 1929 and withdrawn in 1963 after the closure if the Island Bay route.
207 managed to escape being scrapped by being held in reserve as a spare tram in case it was needed.
The Vintage Car Club donated twenty two pound to purchase the tram from the Wellington City Council.
Today, 207 is the only complete example remaining of this type of tram.
As previously mentioned restoration work has begun and it is hoped to see this tram back in operation within the next few years.
You can ride on Mk1 double saloon trams 151(1923) and 159(1925) today at the Museum.

In service at the Wellington Tramway Museum in 1965.
